Description

Poppy Day is celebrated around the world. The American Legion brought National Poppy Day to the United States by asking Congress to designate the Friday before Memorial Day as, National Poppy Day. The American Legion, Peter Wollner Post 288 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 288 will be distributing poppies throughout the community on May 26.

All donations received will be used by the American Legion Family for their programs that support veterans, the military community, and their families.

The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all the wars. On Friday, May 26, wear a poppy to honor those who have worn our nation’s uniform.
